Expanding Beyond the Old Story – Sagittarius Lunar Eclipse

“When a person is uncertain in these times, the two best things that I have found to do are go deep within where the microcosmic order still exists — the deep self — or reach all the way out and reconnect to the stars, the great singing of the planets.” – Michael Meade, Initiation and the Soul

lunar eclipseWednesday’s Lunar Eclipse in Sagittarius (1:13pm PDT) is an extra-potent Full Moon, inspiring revelations, breakthroughs, culminations and completions. Powerful feelings rise to the surface, pressure and intensity are running high, and changes are triggered into action.

Astrologically, the Moon represents home, mother, deep emotional ties, what feels safe, secure and nurturing. At a Lunar Eclipse, the Earth’s shadow blocks the light of the Moon, and what is typically the brightest night of the month mysteriously darkens. An Eclipse of the Moon signifies a break with the past, a radical transition from the familiar into the unknown.

Sagittarius rules philosophy and religion — the stories we tell about who we are, why we’re here, and what it all means. The Sagittarius Eclipse calls for breaking free from old stories that keep us stuck in the past, limiting belief systems, and a smaller version of self than we know we’re capable of living. This Eclipse wants to expand our perception of what’s possible, and open us to a more inspiring vision for the future.

Although there tends to be way too much going on during Eclipse Season, it’s definitely worth making time to sit still, meditate and connect with inner guidance. Sagittarius is the sign of intuition, wisdom, trust and higher consciousness, and this Eclipse offers an opportunity to restore our faith in the big picture and access the deeper meaning of these chaotic times.

To get more specific about what this Eclipse means for YOU, find which house in your birth chart is activated by the Eclipse — where is 24 degrees Sagittarius in your chart? The areas of life represented by that house are where you’re being called to release old belief systems, expand your perception, restore your faith, and realign with your integrity. These may also be areas where past events are coming to fruition or completion.

milky wayThe naturally expansive Sagittarian energy is further amplified by the Moon’s proximity to both the North Node and the Galactic Center. The North Node in Sagittarius advocates leaning into intuitive knowing, standing in your truth, and trusting enthusiasm to guide your way forward. Jessica Murray describes as the Galactic Center as “symbolic of a certain vast perspective that derives from the core of the Milky Way.

This Eclipse suggests that the best preparation for the times ahead — as we approach the dramatic grand finale of Eclipse Season — is to widen our perception, and deepen our connection with both internal truth and eternal truth. The Summer Solstice on June 21 and the Solar Eclipse on July 1 will activate the Cardinal Grand Cross, signifying a collective crisis point and initiation into increasing chaos. Last summer offered a preview of the kind of intensity that’s now building, and this summer promises to take it up a few notches.

Jupiter, the ruler of Sagittarius, has recently moved into earthy, pragmatic, stabilizing Taurus (see Jupiter Enters Taurus), supporting us staying grounded and, in Eric Francis’s words, “connect[ing] that Sagittarius energy to the Earth, where it can express itself tangibly” (Jupiter in Taurus). In your personal life and in the life of the collective, what’s the old story that wants to be released, so you can bring your higher, more brilliant and expansive vision into reality?

LolZ, that reminds me of the time my friend and I found a book on Love Tarot and he randomly picked the Death card and I randomly selected the Hangman.
:)! Talk about being high-strung, I am in Québec and you are in Oregon. ;)

25 Sag is, I think, the center of the Milky Way, from our point of view. See you soon. Love, Jude

Oops. Now I see that you did mention the galactic center. I like to move my mind all the way out there and try to realize the hugeness that humans are such a small part of.
