You don't need astrology to tell you that 2009 is a super-intense year!
Structures in the outer world - governments, the global economy, etc. -
are rapidly changing and, in many cases, falling apart. At the same
time, I'm experiencing myself, and noticing in others, miraculous
healing, growth and transformation. These trends continue, and continue
to accelerate, over the next few years, as we approach the end-date of
the Mayan Calendar - December 21, 2012.
We are standing between the old and the new worlds - with the old world
crumbling around us and the new world just beginning to sprout. The
current planetary transits that speak to this phenomenon most directly
are the opposition between Saturn and Uranus (2008-2010), and the entry of Pluto into Capricorn
(2008-2024). This fall, Pluto will move into a tense 90-degree angle
with Saturn and Uranus, stepping up the pressure and accelerating the
transformational process.
Another astro-highlight of 2009 is the "super-conjunction" of Jupiter, Chiron and Neptune,
all now in the sign Aquarius. This rare alignment, strongest in May,
July and December, offers profound potential for healing deep wounds,
both individually and collectively. Wounds related to addictions and
illusions are especially up for healing. This conjunction also heralds
the rapid rise of alternative - especially energetic and spiritual -
healing modalities.
I will post more info about these major
influences soon - for now, I want to summarize the meaning of these
transits with the following question: Will humanity take back its power?
The planet Uranus and the sign Aquarius - both very strong this year -
represent revolution, freedom, democracy, community, and "the people."
Over the next few years, the masses have the opportunity to take back
their/our power from the handful of elites who currently control the
planet's resources, and who are quickly destroying our beloved Earth.
Whether or not humanity takes back its power depends entirely on the question: Will I - will each of us - take back our power?
I believe that, on a soul level, we each chose to be on the planet at
this very intense and challenging time. As the collective crisis
escalates, we all have the opportunity to step up, become leaders in
our own way, and, in the words of Gandhi, be the change we wish to see in the world.
To find out more about how to work with the planetary energies of this time, I highly recommend the following:
In this fascinating and very informative interview, Jessica Murray (www.mothersky.com) discusses all of the above transits, and particularly how they apply to the chart of the United States.
Eric Frances (planetwaves.net) has an excellent article on Chiron in Aquarius - and with the super-conjunction this year, what he discusses will be especially relevant.
The
movement of the slower-moving outer planets speaks to the underlying,
massive changes we are experiencing at this time. The transits of the
faster-moving planets indicate how we can make the best use of shorter,
specific time periods within those larger cycles. The short-term
transits - especially the Eclipses - also serve as triggers or
catalysts for the major influences.
I am convinced that the universe is under the
control of a loving purpose. And that in the struggle for righteousness
man has cosmic companionship. Behind the harsh appearance of the world
there is a benign power.- Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
